What you need to know about the Excused status.
• Students do not receive a grade for an excused activity.
• While students can be excused from specific activities indefinitely, they also have the option to complete the excused activity to receive a grade.
• Only activities that have not been graded can be Excused. Once a grade is entered into the gradebook you can Drop the grade, then Excuse the activity.
To remove Excused status from an activity
There are several ways to remove the Excused status.
1. Enter a grade for the activity to mark it as complete.
When you enter a grade for the activity:
The excused status is removed from the activity.
The grade is posted and calculated into the student's grade average.
The student and parent receive notification of the new posted grade.
OR
2. Reassign the activity to the student.
• When you reassign an activity, the student receives a notification that lets them know they have a reassigned activity.
• If the activity due date has already passed, the student will also receive an a late notification if the activity is marked Late after due date.
• When the student completes the reassigned activity, their grade for that assignment appears in the gradebook.
Pro-tip: When you reassign an activity, send a comment to your student to let them know the reason their activity was reassigned, along with any instructions they may need to complete their work.
