The manual grade entry allows you to input new gradebook entries directly from the gradebook. These entries are only shown in the gradebook and nowhere else in your course.
What you need to know
Manual grade entries can be bulk added for multiple students at one time. However, these entries are individual entries and cannot be bulk edited or bulk deleted.
The manual grade entry is designed to add an individual grade to a student's gradebook quickly. Unless you specify otherwise, the grade entered will post to the student's gradebook that you are currently viewing.
Manual grade entries are only shown in the gradebook; they are not shown in the course builder, overview, unit view, student's to-do lists, schedules, or the grading and submission sidebar. They will not be saved as an assignment if you reuse this course next year or save the course as a template.
To edit or delete the gradebook entry, you must go to each student’s gradebook page.
Individual student gradebook entries
Adding a manual grade for one student comes in handy when a student completes additional work not included in the class syllabus; this might consist of assignments for extra practice or extra credit.
Another use case is when a homeschool family wants to keep track of grades completed in the past and do not include online submissions.
How to add a manual grade entries

To enter the grade, enter the number of points the student earned for the activity. Next, enter the total number of points the student could make on the assignment.
Click the Add Manual Grade Item button to post the grade.
Pro-tip: The grade will post onto the student’s gradebook page that you are currently viewing.
Adding a grade for multiple students
Manual grade entries help you quickly add the same grade to your gradebook for a group of students. You might use this grading method when entering the same grade for most of the students in your course—for example, adding class participation grades or extra credit points.
If you want to add the grade to multiple students, toggle on “Add for multiple students.”
The popup window will expand to show you all the students in your course. By default, all students will have a checkmark next to their name. Uncheck the students who should not have the grade added to their gradebook.
Pro-tip: Double check to make sure everything is correct; once you add the grades to the gradebook, you will need to edit or delete the grade from each individual’s gradebook page.
