How Do I Excuse an Assignment or Quiz?

You can Excuse an assigned activity for your students.

How to Excuse an Activity

Assignments and quizzes that have not been graded can be Excused. Activities that have been graded can be Dropped.

1️⃣ The Gradebook

  1. Select “Excuse” from the grading drop-down menu

  2. Click the Continue Button on the Confirm Excuse Activity popup

What happens to an Excused Assignment or Quiz?

The Assignment or Quiz is

• Removed from the student’s to-do list.

• Is marked complete with the Excused status.

• Is not calculated in the student's grade.

What are some examples of when to Excuse an activity?

• The student that was absent from class and not able to make-up the work.

• The student enrolled in your class after the class started, so you would Excuse the work assigned before they started your class.

• Enter E into the point box to Excuse an activity.

• How to remove the Excused status.

• Updates to wording, visual elements, and submission views.

• Once Excused, students cannot submit or turn in an Assignment or Quiz.

• Both the parent and student receive a notification that the activity is Excused.
